WIRELESS ELECTRONIC NOTICE BOARD USING GSM

https://www.facebook.com/RSElectronicsOfficial
Notice Board is primary thing in any institution / organization or public utility places like bus stations, railway stations and parks. But sticking various notices day-to-day is a difficult process. A separate person is required to take care of this notices display. This project deals about an advanced hi-tech wireless notice board.

The project is built around the 8051 micro controller from Atmel. This micro controller provides all the functionality of the display and wireless control. It also takes care of creating different display effects for given text. Display is obtained on LCD (16X2) Matrix Display Array on a printed circuit board. A GSM/CDMA Mobile Can is used to enter the required text or notice. The scrolling speed of the text also can be changed according to user requirement. After entering the text the SMS is sent to the no which is connected to the LCD display. At any time the user can add or remove or alter the text according to his requirement. At the receiving end the GSM modem which is connected to the Max 232 receives the message and is connected to the microcontroller 8051. The message is displayed on the LCD (16X2) Matrix Display Array. This project uses regulated 5V, 500mA power supply. 7805 three terminal voltage regulator is used for voltage regulation.
INTRODUCTION
Notice Board is primary thing in any institution / organization or public utility places like bus stations, railway stations and parks. But sticking various notices day-to-day is a difficult process. A separate person is required to take care of this notices display. This project deals about an advanced hi-tech wireless notice board.
An embedded system is a combination of software and hardware to perform a dedicated task. Some of the main devices used in embedded products are Microprocessors and Microcontrollers, Microprocessors are commonly referred to as general purpose processors as they simply accept the inputs, process it and give the output. In contrast, a microcontroller not only accepts the data as inputs but also manipulates it, interfaces the data with various devices, controls the data and thus finally gives the result. As everyone in this competitive world prefers to make the things easy and simple to handle, this project sets an example to some extent.
Now a day’s every advertisement is going to be digital. The big shops and shopping centers are using the digital moving displays now. In Railway station and bus stands everything that is ticket information, platform number etc. is displaying in digital moving display. But in these displays if they wants to change the message or style they have to go there and connect the display to PC or laptop. Suppose the same message if the person wants to display in main centers of the cities means he have to go there with laptop and change the message by connecting into PC. This project we can use mainly for police or army .I.e. displays will be connected to all the main centers in city if they wants to display messages about something crucial within 5 minute, they can’t. So keeping in this mind we are designing a new display system which can access remotely, we are using the GSM technology to access the display’s is one of the new technology in the embedded field to make the communication between microcontroller and mobile. This project is a remote notice board with MODEM connected to it, so if the user wants to display some messages, he will send the messages in SMS format the MODEM in the display system will receive the message and update the display according to the message. For every message received from the user mobile, the system will check for the password and if the password is correct the controller will display the message
“GSM based Control System” implements the emerging applications of the GSM technology. Using GSM networks, a control system has been proposed that will act as an embedded system which can monitor and control appliances and other devices locally using built-in input and output peripherals.
GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications): It is a cellular communication standard.
SMS (Short Message Service): It is a service available on most digital mobile phones that permit the sending of short messages (also known as text messaging service).
The scope of this project is to introduce a new technology for notice board display system using GSM. A user can send a message from anywhere in the world.

THEFT INTIMATION OF THE VEHICLE OVER SMS TO OWNER WHO CAN STOP THE ENGINE REMOTELY

https://www.facebook.com/RSElectronicsOfficial
Now-a-days for the people vehicle is the heart because it can be used in regular life. So its care is much needed. But due to increasing rate of theft we are not sure about vehicle safety so the aim of this project is to use wireless technology to intimate the owner of the vehicle about any unauthorized entry. This is done by sending an auto-generated sms to the owner. An added advantage of this project is that the owner can send back the sms which will disable the ignition of the vehicle.
INTRODUCTION
As the crime rate is going up, security system for vehicles is extremely essential.
In this proposed system if someone tries to steal the car, the microcontroller gets an interrupt through a switch mechanism connected to the system and commands the GSM modem to send an SMS. The owner receives the SMS that his car is stolen. He can then send back an SMS to the GSM modem to ‘stop the engine’. The GSM modem interfaced to the microcontroller, receives the message, the output of which activates a mechanism that disables the ignition of the vehicle resulting in stopping the vehicle. The project uses a lamp to indicate the engine ON/OFF condition.
Thus, owner of the vehicle from anywhere can switch off ignition of his car. This project can be further enhanced by integrating a GPS system, which will give exact position of the vehicle in terms of its latitude and longitude. Further this data can be sent to the owner via SMS who can enter this value on Google maps to get the exact location of the vehicle.

RFID BASED TOLL COLLECTION SYSTEM

https://www.facebook.com/RSElectronicsOfficial

ATCS is an Automated Toll Collection System used for collecting tax automatically. In this we do the identification with the help of radio frequency. A vehicle will hold an RFID tag. This tag is nothing but unique identification number assigned. This will be assigned by RTO or traffic governing authority.

In accordance with this number we will store, all basic information as well as the amount he has paid in advance for the TOLL collection. Reader will be strategically placed at toll collection center. Whenever the vehicle passes the toll naka, the tax amount will be deducted from his prepaid balance. New balance will be updated. Incase if one has insufficient balance, his updated balance will be negative one. To tackle this problem, we are alarming a sound, which will alert the authority that this vehicle doesn’t have sufficient balance and that particular vehicle can be trapped. As vehicles don’t have to stop in a queue, it assures time saving, fuel conservation and also contributing in saving of money.
INTRODUCTION
Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) is a generic term for the application of various technologies designed to automate the traditional toll collection process of stop-and-pay. Drivers can pass toll collection points at various speeds, from 'crawl though' to highway-speed - depending upon the technologies deployed - and the toll is collected automatically. Some open-highway systems with ETC have done away with toll booths and plazas altogether.
This project focuses on an electronic toll collection (ETC) system using Radio frequency identification. (RFID) technology. The RFID system uses tags, through which information embedded on the tags are read by RFID readers, The proposed system eliminates the need for motorists and toll authorities to manually perform ticket payments and toll fee collections, respectively. Thus it is a more efficient toll collection by reducing traffic and eliminating possible human errors.
This system allows the vehicle drivers to pass the toll tax booths without stopping at the toll booths. The toll amount is deducted from the RFID card. This RFID card is rechargeable and account is stored on the records.

This system will have two benefits.
First benefit is that movement of traffic will be much faster as user will not wait to give the money because, driver has to just show the RFID card in-front of the card reader.
Second benefit is that driver doesn't have to carry the money each time. He will just recharge the RFID card by certain amount and will use this card each time he travels. This is little bit similar to using credit cards.
               BLOCK DIAGRAM
Fig. 1 Block Diagram of RFID based Toll collection system
The “RFID based Toll Collection System” basically consists of following main blocks

1. RFID card:
An RFID card has diverse range of functions, while provides convenience, as the cards must simply be waived or tapped in front of a reader rather than swiped. These cards are used for applications as access control in security systems, time and attendance, network login security, biometric verification, cashless payment, and even event management.

2. RFID reader:
An RFID reader is a device that is used to interrogate an RFID tag. The reader has an inbuilt antenna that emits radio waves; the tag responds by sends back its data.
3. Micro controller:
Micro controller senses the signal given from switches and decides the mode of operation i.e. recharge mode or toll collection mode. It fetches data from memory location and send it to output devices like display, motor driver and buzzer. At the same time it can accept data from Keypad for recharging options and from IR receiver to sense that vehicle has passed from toll collection booth.

4. Liquid crystal Display:
It consists of Liquid Crystal display (LCD).The display is various messages like valid card, invalid card, access allowed, manual access etc. We are going to use 16x2 alphanumeric displays.

5. IR Receiver:
IR receiver is used to sense that vehicle has passed the toll collection booth. The other alternative for infrared trans-receiver is optical sensor i.e. IR but the disadvantage is that it can be affected easily by the sun light or other lights. So there is possibility of false triggering. Also the disadvantage of using special color sensors like LASER beam is that it is visible to normal human eyes. To overcome all these points we have used infra-red sensor

6. IR Transmitter:
IR LED is used as IR transmitter. Transmitter will be placed at the one side of the booth while receiver is at the other side. When the vehicle passes through the booth, IR rays going to receiver are cut and signal is send to microcontroller.

7. Motor Driver
Microcontroller output is 5 volts and DC motor requires 12 volts supply. Motor driver IC is used to convert 5v to 12v, which is required to drive the motor.
8. DC Motor
DC Motor is used to open the Gate barrier. This will be done when user has successfully performed the RFID swap operation with sufficient balance.

9. Buzzer
Buzzer will be turned on when invalid card is shown at the RFID reader.

10. Switch
If some user doesn’t have the RFID card and he doesn’t want to purchase the card then he can pay the cash to the government authority persons at the toll plaza. Authority person will then press the manual switch to open the Gate.

11. Keypad
Keypad is provided for the recharge option. Authority person can recharge the RFID cards using this keypad.

Voice Controlled Robot

https://www.facebook.com/RSElectronicsOfficial
The wireless communication technologies are rapidly spreading many new areas, including the automation and the importance of the use of wireless technologies in the data acquisition, building control, monitoring systems and automation of manufacturing processes will grow. Intelligent mobile robots and cooperative multi robotic systems can be very efficient tools to speed up search and research operations in remote areas. Robots are also useful to do jobs in areas and in situations that are hazardous for human. They can go anywhere that is not reachable by humans and can go into gaps and move through small holes that are impossible for humans and even trained dogs.
Robotics is an evolving technology. There are many approaches to building robots.
The project aims at designing a voice operated robot which can be controlled wirelessly through RF communication. The advent of new high-speed technology provided realistic opportunity for new robot controls and realization of new methods of control theory. This technical improvement together with the need for high performance robots created faster, more accurate and more intelligent robots using new robots control devices, new drivers and advanced control algorithms. This project describes a new economical solution of robot control systems. The presented robot control system can be used for different sophisticated robotic applications.
Speech is the primary and most convenient means of communication between humans. Whether due to technological curiosity to build machines that mimic human’s or desire to automate work with machine, research in speech recognition as a first step towards human-machine communication. Speech recognition is the process of recognizing the spoken word to take necessary actions accordingly.
The controlling devices of the whole system are Microcontrollers. Speech recognition module, wireless transceiver modules & DC motors are interfaced to Microcontroller. When the user fed the voice commands to the speech recognition module, the microcontroller interfaced to it reads the command and sends relevant data of that command wirelessly using RF module. This data is received by the RF module on the robot and feds it to microcontroller which acts accordingly on motors. To perform this intelligent task, Microcontroller is loaded with a program written in embedded ‘C’ language.
The main building blocks of the project are:
1. Regulated Power Supply.
2. Microcontrollers.
3. Speech recognition module.
4. RF modules.
5. DC motors with driver.
6. LED indicators.
